There are a two different ways that you can use this method when treating the pain in your mouth. You can use the essential oil by massaging a few drops into your gums where your pain persists. Or, you can make a tea out of peppermint leaves. Simply boil two to three teaspoons of leaves in water and drink it slowly.

Cabbage

It may seem like an odd ingredient, but cabbage is known for its natural anti-bacterial, lactic acid. Lactic acid is what helps to minimize pain and will also help reduce swelling in your gums while fighting off infections that your mouth is susceptible to.

This method does not work as quickly as peppermint tea. However, when it begins to work, it will be just as effective. Firmly place and hold a cabbage leaf on the pain site and relax. The cabbage leaf will being to work within ten to fifteen minutes. You can also gently chew the cabbage leaf and let the lactic acid seep into your gum line.

Onions

This is definitely the grossest sounding remedy on the list if you don't like the taste of raw onions, however, they can help reduce the swelling and throbbing that your mouth is experiencing and help to reduce pain. Onions have natural healing advantages and will also reduce your chances of getting an infection in your gums. Red onions are the best onions to use because they are the most potent.

In order to use this method, you must chew a raw onion. Softly and slowly chew on a small piece of an onion and allow the juices to work their way through your gums. If the taste of the onion is too overwhelming, you can always massage it into your gum line where you are experiencing the most pain.
